Aldo Leopold Legacy Trail System
Wolf River State Trail

The Wolf River State Trail is currently under development. Once complete, the Wolf River State Trail in Langlade County will run for 23.4 miles and begin at the Menominee/Langlade county line, travel north through White Lake, Hollister and Lily to the Langlade/Forest county line. The Forest County segment will run for 13.6 miles from the Forest/Langlade county line to Crandon. The trail will be developed in phases, in part dependant on funding.

When completed, this year-round recreation trail will provide walking, biking and horseback riding opportunities during spring, summer and fall, and snowmobiling in winter. All-terrain Vehicles (ATVs) will be allowed on part of the trail when the corridor is open for snowmobile use and the trail surface is frozen.

The Wolf River State Trail will run adjacent to the Nicolet National Forest [exit DNR] where camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, mountain biking and cross-country skiing opportunities are available.

A segment of the corridor between Highway 64 and Lily is near the Wolf River. The river is well known for trout fishing and the whitewater rapids frequently draw rafters, kayakers and canoeists.
