Friends of Rock Island State Park meet in a historic stone building. If you'd like to be an e-friend (receive occasional e-mails about friends group programs and other news), contact the friends group coordinator, (608) 266-2181. If you are interested in starting a friends group at a property where none currently exists, "How to Form An Official DNR Friends Group In Wisconsin [PDF 68KB]" will give you a good idea of what is involved with the process. This two-page document lays out the steps you will need to take to become a friends group and where to direct questions. See the list of parks which are particularly interested in getting friends groups. Friends of Wisconsin State Parks [exit DNR] is a statewide non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance, preserve, protect, restore, and promote Wisconsin state parks, forests, trails, and recreation areas. For more information, ask Luthien Niland, outreach coordinator, (608) 264-8994. Last Revised: Wednesday September 24 2008
